I'm Ksenia Kudelkina, an artist based in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. I work in oil, oil pastel, gouache, acrylic and graphite, making original paintings and drawings inspired by the coast and towns of South Wales. My subjects are flowers, the sea, windows at night, trees, still life and quiet streets.
I paint the places I know well — the changing light of the Bristol Channel, everyday routines, the small local scenes that make South Wales feel like home. For three years my flat looked east over the Channel, and Penarth Pier keeps returning in my work: at night, in fog, in weather that isn't quite rain.
Every piece is painted or drawn by hand in my studio in Penarth. I also run Espresso Sketches Penarth, a friendly sketching group meeting around Penarth and Cardiff, and I take a small number of commissions.
