This video is a three-day escape through some of the most beautiful corners of Wales, with my sketchbook coming along for the ride.
In this Wales sketchbook vlog I visit Aberdulais, Carreg Cennen Castle, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, Dinefwr Castle and Garden, the National Botanic Garden of Wales, and Llandeilo. It is part travel diary, part artist video: walking, looking, collecting impressions, and finding small moments that might later become drawings or paintings.
I like taking a sketchbook on trips because it changes the pace of looking. A castle wall, a cave entrance, a garden path, a town street, or a quick colour note from the Welsh landscape can stay in the mind much longer once it has passed through the hand.
For anyone interested in Wales travel, Welsh landscape art, sketchbook practice, travel drawing, and quiet artist vlogs from Wales, this is a small glimpse into how a trip becomes part of the studio work.
